Short Term Programs are available at Universidad VERITAS for Winter and Summer.

Winter and Summer Short Term Programs are available in Ecological Photography, Tropical Architecture, Tropical Ecology, Tropical Marine Biology, and Basic Aerospace Engineering.
Also a Cultural and Environmental Perspective Short Term Program of twelve days is offered for Freshmen groups in January and June.

Winter Hybrid

+ PHOT 2100J Short Term Program Ecological Photography

(2 weeks online / 2.5 weeks in Costa Rica)
20 online hours, 25 lecture hours, 35 lecture/field session hours (6 credits)

The purpose of this program is for students to:
* Have a clear knowledge of the basic principles of photography to consciously handle a digital photographic camera.
* Have a clear knowledge of the basic principles of photographic composition.
* Have a basic notion of Ecological systems throughout Costa Rica and important issues in relation to photographic exploration.
* Perform basic manipulations through Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Camera Raw.

+ Freshmen Program

2 days online/10 days in Costa Rica with lectures and field sessions
8 online hours, 48 lecture hours, 16 field session hours (4 credits)

Universidad VERITAS has structured “four station” highly experiential program on Cultural and Environmental Perspectives for freshmen groups. The main objective of this program is to provide a valuable international experience that will help students not only transition to a higher education “critical thinking” mode but will also motivate their interest in further pursuing an international experience later during their college career.

+ ARCH 3200 J Short Term Program Tropical Architecture

(2 weeks online / 2.5 weeks in Costa Rica)
20 online hours, 25 lecture hours, 35 lecture/field session hours (6 credits)

The purpose of this program is for students to:
* Understand the need for adequate climatic design.
* Enjoy the form and shape of architecture as a response to climate.
* Study the interesting diversity that we find in the world due to the fact that every place, as each person, presents different characteristics and destinies.
* Find the balance between globalization and local identity.
* Learn from the richest treasure of the poor: their ingenuity. Restricted resources, knowledge of land and climate as well as a rural tradition where domestic construction is passed on from one generation to another, resulted in vernacular architecture that has a lot of useful applications and meanings.
* Familiarize the student with the various contemporary climate-related design currents around the world.

+ ENV 3044 J Short Term Program Tropical Ecology

(2 weeks online / 2.5 weeks in Costa Rica)
20 online hours, 25 lecture hours, 35 lecture/field session hours (6 credits)

The purpose of this program is for students to:
* General comprehension of the concepts and issues in relation to Tropical Ecology.
* Introduction to Costa Rican ecosystems, climate diversity and biodiversity through field trips and field work in three different types of forests, tropical rain forest, tropical dry forest, mountain forest, mangrove forest and coral reef.
* Study of the major groups of tropical organisms and their role in their ecosystems.
* The importance of human made impacts on natural ecosystems.

+ ENV 3190 J Short Term Program Tropical Marine Biology

(2 weeks online / 2.5 weeks in Costa Rica)
20 online hours, 25 lecture hours, 35 lecture/field session hours (6 credits)

The purpose of this program is for students to:
* General comprehension of the concepts and issues addressed in marine biology.
* Costa Rican marine ecosystems, biodiversity and environmental issues through field trips and field work in coral reefs, sandy and muddy beaches, mangroves and estuaries.
* The importance of Integrated Coastal Management.

June Hybrid

+ Basic Aerospace Engineering

1 week online / 2 weeks on-site program including lectures and field sessions at Ad Astra Rocket Company Costa Rica.
10 online hours, 45 lecture hours, 25 field session hours (6 credits)

This program is proposed for students beginning bachelor level, like freshman and sophomore years for engineering degrees. The purpose is to provide the students with a view of the amazing field of Space Industry as well as the relationship with new renewable energy technologies, therefore helping them make a decision to study related careers.
