VISA

U.S. and European Union Citizens:

If you are a U.S. or European Union citizen, when you go through immigration in Costa Rica an officer will stamp your passport and this constitutes an automatic 90-day tourist Visa.

If you are staying for over 90 days you might have to request an "Estancia", a special category of Visa. The Estancia has to be requested to the Immigration offices by the host institution, in this case it will be by Universidad VERITAS.   The processing of the "Estancia" requires the payment of $198 ($100 for a Process Fee and $98 for stamps and certifications) and a $100 Deposit fee. The total cost of the "Estancia" is $298.

If you are coming for any of the 16 week programs please see a staff member on campus (at VERITAS) to start the process of the Visa Estancia.

Citizens from other countries

Citizens from other countries should contact the closest consulate or embassy. For information visit: http://www.rree.go.cr

Airport taxes

All students have to pay $29 airport taxes, when leaving the country so make sure you save this amount for your trip back.
